Five of Ten Thousand

Bromyard is home to a great diversity of grass species, which supports an array of wildlife that can be seen and heard throughout the year.

Although grasses are dominant in habitats across the world today, they weren’t thought to exist until some ten million years after the age of dinosaurs had ended.

Today there are over ten thousand species of grass. Pictured here are just five of them; each found on the Bromyard Downs amongst significant others.

In the mix here we have: Little Quaking Grass, Crested Dog Tail, Cocks Foot, Yorkshire Fog and Meadow  Grass.
