Bromyard Folk Festival: Magic and a Whole Lot of Community Spirit

Bromyard Folk Festival isn’t your average weekend event — it’s a deep-rooted celebration of tradition that’s been running since 1968. What started as a small gathering with just 150 tickets sold has grown into one of the UK’s most beloved folk festivals, attracting thousands of visitors every year.

And yet, it still feels like Bromyard. Friendly, unpretentious, creative and rooted in community.

What to Expect

For four days in September, Bromyard comes alive with:

  • 🎶 Live music from top folk artists
  • 💃 Ceilidhs, Morris dancers, and traditional dance displays
  • 📖 Storytelling tents and workshops
  • 🍻 Local food, drink, and craft stalls
  • ⛺ On-site camping and plenty of space to soak it all in

The Bromyard Folk Festival stretches across multiple venues — from big-top tents and the Town Green to the Storyteller’s Tent, The Burrow and even St Peter’s Church. You’ll find music in the pubs, Morris dancers outside the town square and spontaneous singing sessions wherever the mood strikes.

There’s something magical about watching world-class folk music under canvas while the sun sets over Bromyard.

This Year’s Line-Up

The 2025 line-up at the Bromyard Folk Features a mix of legends and fresh talent, offering something for every folk fan. Some highlights include:

  • The Furrow Collective – haunting harmonies and reimagined traditional ballads
  • Granny’s Attic – festival patrons and local favourites with high-energy English folk
  • Kerr, Fagan & Van Eyken – a celebrated reunion of musical brilliance
  • The Wilderness Yet – modern a cappella and rich instrumentation
  • Crows – long-standing folk storytellers and performers
  • English Fiddle Ensemble – four expert fiddlers celebrating regional traditions

And that’s just scratching the surface—expect performances from over 50 artists, with new favourites to discover around every corner.

Not Just Music…

While the live performances are a huge part of the festival, Bromyard Folk Festival is also about connection and community.

On Friday night, the town hosts a magical torchlit Morris procession — a tradition full of colour, music and joy. There’s also a Sunday service at St Peter’s, which weaves together faith and folk and the much-loved Fred Jordan Memorial Competition, supporting young traditional singers under 25.

There are also craft fairs, family entertainment, food stalls and plenty of space to sit with a drink and just enjoy the atmosphere. For families, it’s a brilliant way to introduce children to something new. For locals, it’s a moment of town-wide pride. For visitors, it’s an invitation to be part of something special.
