The waiting is over, the finalists of the Visit Herefordshire Tourism Awards have been announced today and we couldn’t be prouder and more excited to share the big news with you.
We know many businesses here in Bromyard have been working tirelessly to attract visitors and showcase the unique and picturesque charm of our town. We’re incredibly grateful for the hard work and dedication that has brought so many good things to our community.
Today is a day for celebration and reflection on all that effort and hard work everyone has been doing. But most importantly, this blog is a moment to congratulate the incredible businesses that made it to the finals… and there are quite a few!
Among the many categories in these awards, Bromyard businesses have been finalists in four different categories. An impressive and well-deserved achievement.
The businesses that reached the finals, along with their categories, are:
National Trust Brockhampton: Winner of the Accessible and Inclusive Tourism Award
Brockhampton is our little hidden gem, where visitors can explore the manor house and visit each of the rooms, tasting the evolution the house has experienced from the medieval Great Hall to a nostalgic 1950s parlour.
But that’s not all… in this beautiful spot you can also visit the gorgeous gardens, apple orchards and traditional stone farm buildings nestled into the hillsides. One of the annual highlights is the spring blossom, which drapes the old fruit trees and covers the manor house in floral beauty. In autumn, visitors are welcome to come and pick fruit straight from the orchards.
Rowdeen Mill Station: Winner of the ‘Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable Tourism Award’ and ‘Self-Catering Accommodation of the Year’
Not just one, but two awards were won here! Rowden Mill Station took home the Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable Tourism Award and Self-Catering Accommodation of the Year.
Rowden Mill Station was built in 1890 but later renovated in 1984, including internally full equipment for modern living. This charming location lets you experience a stay inside old train carriages, the station building or even in the Parcel Office, offering a unique mix of history and comfort. Well done!
Rookery Woods: Winner of the Camping, Glamping & Holiday Park of the Year.
What can we say? Rookery Woods offers beautiful cabins that make you feel like you’re in the middle of a forest, all while enjoying the comforts you’d expect from top-notch accommodation. So this awards fits them like a glove.
Rowden Abbey Winner of ‘Self-catering Accommodation of the Year’
Last but certainly not least, Rowden Abbey is a delightful bed and breakfast just outside of Bromyard, famous for its medieval-inspired rooms and stunning lake and river walks.
We’ve always said this, but Rowden Abbey truly is the perfect spot to enjoy nature, with a historical twist that sets it apart from other places in Herefordshire. Staying here feels like time-traveling, but with all the modern comforts of a fantastic hotel.
Congratulations to all of you! Very Well Deserved:
Destination Bromyard project, as many of you know, started with a focus on showcasing the best of Bromyard and making it a destination everyone would love to visit. But it couldn’t have been done essentially without the incredible local businesses that continue to serve our community and make our town shine.
And for those who participated in the Visit Herefordshire Tourism Awards but didn’t make it to the finals, we want you to know that your efforts and contributions are still deeply appreciated. Without you, Bromyard wouldn’t be the same. To us you’re all winners, so give yourselves a pat on the back for the hard work you do every day.
