Bromyard Cider Tours

We are in the full flux of spring and summer is fast approaching. The weather is getting warmer, the sun is shining and that normally means one thing, sitting back and relaxing with a nice cold cider. Luckily for us, Herefordshire is one of the homes of cider, we boast a great selection and we thought we’d give you three of the best local cider tours.

Little Pomona

Located just outside of Bromyard, Little Pomona is a small-scale cider mill that prides itself on crafting ciders and perries that speak of the land. They use traditional cidermaking methods, including wild fermentation, to produce ciders that are unique and full of character. Little Pomona sources its fruit from local orchards, and their ciders and perries reflect the terroir of Herefordshire. They are also a much loved regular at the Bromyard Monthly Market in the square.

If you’re interested in learning more about cidermaking, you can take a tour of Little Pomona’s orchards and cidery. During the tour, you’ll learn about the history of cidermaking in Herefordshire, the different varieties of apples and pears used in cidermaking, and the methods Little Pomona uses to produce its award-winning ciders and perries. Of course, you’ll also get to taste some of Little Pomona’s delicious ciders and perries. Tours take place twice a month from 2;30pm, head over to their website to book.

Weston’s Cider

Weston’s Cider is a household name in the UK, known for its flavourful ciders and famous ‘Henry Weston’s’ brand. Located just a short drive from Bromyard, Weston’s Cider offers tasting tours around their mill. During the tour, you’ll get to see the cidermaking process in action, from the pressing of the apples to the maturation of the ciders. You’ll also get to sample some of Weston’s delicious ciders, including the classic ‘Henry Weston’s’ cider.

If you’re visiting during the harvest season, Weston’s Cider is open every day, and you can see the apples being harvested and pressed. The harvest season is an exciting time to visit, as the air is filled with the scent of ripe apples, and the orchards are bustling with activity. Gregg’s Pit Cider and Perry

Located just outside of Hereford, Gregg’s Pit Cider and Perry is a family-run cider mill that produces 100% fresh-pressed juice from named varieties of sun-ripened vintage fruit and wild yeasts. The fruit is fermented and matured in stainless steel tanks, creating ciders and perries that are crisp, clean, and full of flavour.

If you’re interested in learning more about Gregg’s Pit’s cidermaking process, you can take a tour of the orchards and cidery. During the tour, you’ll learn about the different varieties of fruit used in cidermaking, the process of pressing and fermenting the juice and the methods Gregg’s Pit uses to create its award-winning ciders and perries. Of course, you’ll also get to taste some of the delicious ciders and perries. It is free admission to the tours. Tours start from 1st April up until November.
