Crumplebury lies just ten minutes Northeast of Bromyard, five of which are spent driving down its scenic driveway through the Whitbourne estate. Once you’ve made your way through green pastures and woodlands, you arrive at a venue that would be at home on Grand Designs. It consists of a selection of buildings which are designed to enhance and not compete with the surrounding countryside, the insides filled with lots of charming details.
For example, the furniture and décor are carefully selected and much of it is either reclaimed or has been brought back from the owners’ travels. The Grand Hall, Art Gallery and Drinking Trough all have big glass fronts, flooding the rooms with natural light and extending the rooms into the surrounding gardens and countryside. Crumplebury manages to effortlessly balance airy and bright with cosy and intimate.
Eat at Crumplebury
Located in the lush Herefordshire countryside, farm to fork was the obvious choice for the food offering at Crumplebury. The Drinking Trough is at the heart of Crumplebury, with stunning views, warm fires and a well stocked bar. Herbs and vegetables are grown just a few steps away in the kitchen garden. All food that is plated up is as fresh as it gets from the animals used and the produce that is mainly grown and foraged from the estate.
Sleep at Crumplebury
Whether you’re staying in one of the ten ensuite bedrooms or treating yourself to the plush Oakley suite, the team at Crumplebury has thought of all the little luxuries that make an overnight stay that extra bit special. If you want a bring the children or are looking for a bit more space (and a wood fired hot tub), you’ll want to book into the self-catering Longfield Cottage.
Gather at Crumplebury
From big events to intimate gatherings, corporate congregations to family get-togethers – the team at Crumplebury know just what to do to make an event special. They have perfected the skill of hosting gatherings in an authentic and personalised way and will go the extra mile to make you feel at home. We recently went to check out the space when they had run out of oat milk, and one of the team went out to get some, to make sure we could enjoy the perfect cup of coffee.
While the space is perfectly located and effortlessly combines all aspects of hospitality for weddings and corporate events, it’s the (almost) everyday running that makes it stand out. From Thursday to Sunday, you can book into the Drinking Trough, Crumplebury’s casual dining establishment. What started out as a pop-up pub at the end of 2022 turned into a permanent fixture where locals and visitors are welcome to enjoy a hearty meal. If you’re not driving, we recommend the seasonal cocktails made with Crumplebury gin made with foraged sloe berries.
